Caramelized Onion and Carrot Soup

Hello hello everyone!

I'm still excited about writing about the best breakfast tacos in Austin for the Austin City Guide! Ah, I feel so honored.

That being said though, I feel like I didn't do it enough justice. Of course no matter what I do, or how good I do something, i'm always going to say that, as I am somewhat of a perfectionist. A lazy perfectionist.

White Chocolate Lemon Profiteroles

This past weekend seemed like it was just a big ole' failure for me when it came to cooking.

It seemed like everything I made came out disappointing.

A Word With One of Austin's Finest

Hello everyone! This post is a very special post. Why?  I am very excited to have gotten the opportunity to ask one of Austin's top chefs a couple of questions, and here I present to you the questions and the answers.

The chef I interviewed has been awarded Food & Wine magazines best new chef, has already been nominated for a James Beard award and again is a semi-finalist for a James Beard award in 2 categories: Rising Star Chef and Best Chef Southwest. This man is a culinary genius, and along with all his praise he happens to be one of my culinary heroes.

Roasted Pork Loin with Goat Cheese and Spinach Pesto (A.K.A. "The Green Monster")

Ask and you will be answered. Do and you will receive.

See that up there? I came up with that by myself. Just add that to my resume, Sarah Freytag "philosopher".

Okay, maybe not that far, but I think a lot of people could use this advice.

Italian Cream Prune Cake

Do you ever have one of those days where you just cannot think or have any inspiration for anything? All your ideas seem stupid and you can't decide what to make?

That was me the day I made this cake.

Edamame Pesto Quinoa Salad

Did everyone have a nice Valentines Day?

Judging from all the people that came into the restaurant I work at that day, it was either great or awful.

I felt bad, our first customer came in complaining about how much roses and chocolate were... Poor fella.

However, it was nice seeing cute couples come in all lovey dovey with each other. It makes me hopeful that maybe some marriages will last.

Chocolate Sin Cake

Have you ever felt so strongly about something, so passionate about it, but you just can't get the right words out to explain it?

Nothing you say does it justice.

Thin Mint Copycat

Some things just taste better when they are homemade.

Bread, cake, pasta. It's basically a fact that you can't get better than homemade when it comes to some foods.

I'll be honest though, I never thought that about Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies. Those things are just so addicting!

Caramelized Onion and Goat Cheese Ravioli

Who else just wants to bundle up and watch movies today?

I'm sure i'm not the only one, especially with that giant storm sweeping over the north.

This is why I live in Texas, where my idea of a cold day is 50 degrees. I'm a wimp I know.

I just don't like the cold. My body can't handle it.

Chocolate Souffle

This past weekend all the guys in the house went down to the coast to go fishing, so me and my mom had a girls weekend.

When I was really young I always cried whenever the guys left, I wanted my brothers and dad here with us. But my mom showed me how much fun it is to be free from the guys for a while.

A Tribute to Butternut Squash

Butternut squash is one of those vegetables that really gets famous during the holidays but almost gets forgotten the rest of the year.

It gets kicked to the side like an old dog.

Tiramisu

Today has been one of those days... Okay, it hasn't been that bad really, I actually got some very exciting news regarding Sarah Eats Austin which I will share with ya'll very soon, but i've had that nagging feeling that i'm about to get sick all day, plus having to work all day, it hasn't been fun...

I hate being sick. Cold, stomach flu, flu, anything I hate it. I never let it slow me down though, I power through like a trooper! Nyquil in hand I do my job!

Peanut Butter & Jelly Bars

Nothing says childhood like a peanut butter and jelly.

As I get older, I find that I miss being a little kid sometimes. No cares in the world and the biggest worry was what was going to be for dinner.

Those were the good old days.
